Serie A has been weakened by the economic turmoil that is going on in the Euro countries, and the crisis has seen many of the giants lose their buying power in the transfer market.
The loss of economic prowess in Italian football clubs has also seen the flight of talent from the country, as the local clubs have lost their power to outbid the European giants from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 to keep hold of their top talent.
Abete was of the view that the economic problems in the country can be turned into an opportunity to invest into the young players, and groom their talents to quench Serie A’s thirst for top quality.
The FIGC President sided with Arrigo Sacchi to stress upon the need for the Italian clubs to keep their balance sheets in good shape, even if that means that the club has to forgo some of its strengths.
The Italian football federation’s chief was adamant that the sports establishments should look towards their long-term future, in order to make sacrifices on their short-term objectives.
While talking to Radio Kiss Kiss, the Italian businessman said:
“We must turn the economic difficulties of our country, which are reflected in football too, into an opportunity to get the best out of our young players. Arrigo Sacchi said the same thing recently. Club balance sheets also have to be in order, even if that means big sacrifices. We cannot escape a sane equation between costs and income. The clubs must take this opportunity without thinking about being less competitive in the short-term.”
