Giancarlo Minardi expresses his views regarding Giorgio Ascanelli rumour – Formula 1 news
Founder of Minardi F1 team, Giancarlo Minardi has expressed that he is feeling sorry after hearing the rumours which stated that the technical director of Toro Rosso, Giorgio Ascanelli has decided to leave his team.
Ascanelli has not been with his team since the German GP and the reports are saying that he has left his role as the technical director as he was against the developmental process of the car. However, the team has said that the Italian is on holidays and
has rejected all the speculations in this regard.
Meanwhile, Minardi said that the Swiss team has been facing huge difficulties and has not been able to score even a single point since the Malaysian GP. Moreover, he said that he is sorry for the sister concern of Red Bull Racing that Ascanelli left on such
a crucial time.
In addition, he also said that after the preceding season, Toro Rosso have been hoping to achieve more while he said that they must make the considerable advancement so as to fulfil their expectations.
Besides, he said that Ascanelli has always had conflicts with his team principal, Franz Tost concerning their car’s developmental process as he often doesn’t accept ideas regarding the technical step-ups, which could have created contradiction between the
two.
“There is trouble at home with Toro Rosso and I am sorry to see Giorgio Ascanelli is [officially] on 'holiday',” Minardi continued. “After last year, expectations are very different and now there will have to be a precise analysis of the changes needed for
2013. The clashes between team principal and the technical director are synonymous with nervousness and, perhaps, the choices [made by Tost] are not always endorsed by the technical department.”
It is to be noted that Tost avoided to make any kind of remarks regarding the prevailing rumours and said that it is the matter of confidentiality between them.
“I can only tell you that Giorgio Ascanelli is on holiday and there's confidentiality between the two parties,” Tost said. “That's all that I can say to this.”
Let’s see whether they will be able to resolve the ongoing issue in the future or not.
