Giancarlo Stanton hopeful to return on Saturday after warm-ups and appear in All-Star Game-MLB
Warm-ups spell positive signals as the Miami Marlins’ right-fielder Giancarlo Stanton appears optimistic after going through them and says he will return soon. In-fact, he may be playing in the second game of their three match series against the St. Louis
Cardinals before heading to the Home-Run Derby and the All-Star Game appearance.
However, initial signs of fitness do not mean that the loose bodies in his knees have eliminated. As per the reports, they are still there and will require surgery, which both the manager Ozzie Guillen and Stanton believe can be done after this season. They
say the issue is not severe enough that immediate actions become indispensable.
Meanwhile, Stanton is upbeat for showing his slugging mastery in Home Run Derby. He is going to take the games before the ASG as an opportunity to bring back his top-notch form and fine-tune his skills.
He is just 22-years-old and one can understand his penchant for being acknowledged during the big day. Being a part of the spotlight in his first All-Star appearance is one of the most cherished moments in a player’s career.
While Stanton is confident, manager Guillen is apprehensive that he may be more focused on playing for the National League than for the team.
"I'd love for him to do that," Guillen explained. "I just want him to be ready for us, not for the National League."
However, Stanton stated, if his sore knees do not affect his mechanics, he will be ready for the games. In the opposite case, he understands the trouble he will be facing.
"I have to read my body," Stanton said. "If I'm changing the way I run or hit or anything, then that's going to lead to other problems and change the way I play on the field."
Regardless of where his progress stands, one thing is certain that this kind of injury can get worse at any time for the player. Sooner or later, it has to be fixed. Therefore, the Marlins will be aware of the fact that they have their star outfielder on
the brink of an outage from the season.
