Giancarlo Stanton out due to sore knee but asserts resolve to play in Home Run Derby - MLB

Giancarlo Stanton misses the Miami Marlins’ line-up as a sore knee that actually had triggered during Spring Training re-ignites on Tuesday. Until last morning, he gave little signs of whether it was taking a toll on his performance in the season.
He has been hitting massive homers. Based on his splendid shows on the plate, he has earned the call for being a part of the Home Run Derby, which will start next week.
Stanton is just 22-years-old. He is one of the few young players in the history of baseball who have become an All-Star. As it is going to be his first appearance, last thing he will want is getting injured a few days before the Home Run Derby begins.
Therefore, he will be observing caution and will be making sure his sore knee does not affect him and that he will be fit before the day.
Furthermore, Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen is taking proper care of Stanton. He will oversee him in the practice sessions and will observe as to where he stands in terms of coming back in the line-up.
Ever apart from Home Run Derby, right-fielder is extremely significant to the Marlins' contention for making it through to the play-offs.
He is a priority in their slugging department. Stanton is one of the few players who stabilised the Marlins’ struggling offence and lifted it on a number of occasions.
Meanwhile, Guillen has explained that Stanton is enduring severe pain at the moment. Therefore, they are going to give him some rest. Similar to the way Logan Morrison was allowed to rest as he also suffers with soreness in his left knee, Stanton will also
be given proper time.
"I thought he was going to be kind of like LoMo was," Guillen said. "We gave LoMo a lot of rest early. But he's been fine. He's been great. When [Stanton] says he's a little bit sore, you've got to be careful. I expect him to be in a lot of pain; that's
why he isn't playing."
There has not been any mention about his return as yet. While ideally the Marlins will like to see Stanton playing in their on-going series against the Milwaukee Brewers, it is least likely to be the case.
Giancarlo will be hoping to see the pain subsiding soon to get back in the action for the Marlins.
