Giancarlo Stanton stands out as Miami Marlins have an ideal month of May - MLB Update
With as many wins as the Miami Marlins have in years during one month, May is about to end, leaving memories they will like to see repeating throughout the season. At the end of disastrous first month, the Marlins were enduring the lash-out of fans with
experts raising questions at their spending-spree during the off-season.
As they rebounded unbelievably well in May, Giancarlo Stanton can easily be termed their redeemer.
Stanton was great even in the first month, as just his performance was eclipsed by the slump the club as a whole suffered.
Come the second month and along with the likes of Hanley Ramirez and Omar Infante, Stanton would go wild on the plate. So ferocious he appeared in some of the games, homers he struck went scratching the scoreboard and inspiring awe from all around the park.
His batting average stands at an impressive .304, more than a career .268. While his slugging percentage is amongst the highest in the season, he has slammed 13 home-runs and has added 39 RBIs so far.
If he can continue with the same pace, he is going to become a serious threat for the opponents.
Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen is disillusioned. He clearly understands major link of the massive turn-around they experienced in the month. Acknowledging the role Stanton played, he calls upon the need for others players to take inspiration from his numbers.
"The only number I really care is a W. If anybody out there has better numbers than him, congratulations. This kid is one of the biggest reasson we are where we are," manager Ozzie Guillen.
The manager will be at-ease now, after witnessing the club’s slump on the National League East Division table earlier.
Standing close to top of the table, the Washington Nationals now, by continuing performance in the same way, the Marlins can take over first position.
For this, the Marlins cannot afford to see Stanton decline even an inch from his present run of form.
Stanton will be aware of an importance of keeping the momentum intact. Therefore, he will look to contribute in the same fashion until the end of the season.
