Gianfranco Zola, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo will remain the manager at the club next season.
The Italian boss was given the post of the interim manager at the club after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in March following a string of poor results. win.
However, that has not been enough to guarantee him a permanent position as the Chelsea manager as the owner Roman Abramovich is considering his options. He is reportedly interested in bringing in either former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello.
The Russian billionaire reportedly does not want to rush into the decision of selecting a new manager, but will most likely make his decision before the Blues leave for their pre-season tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034. So far, Di Matteo looks to retain his place
as the manager of the club.
It is believed the Italian boss will be given a one year rolling contract, after which period Abramovich will bring in Pep Guardiola. The 45-year-old former Blues striker admitted that while he was not aware of who would be appointed as the next manager,
he was confident it would be Di Matteo.
Especially since the manager had done such a fantastic job since taking over as the Blues manager. He did not manage to earn them a place in the top four of the English Premier League, but more than made up for it by winning the UEFA Champions League.
Zola himself has been linked with a managerial position at the club, but refused to comment on the possibility of taking up the opportunity to return to the club.
Zola said in an interview:
“Right now it's premature to judge what will happen on the Blues' bench or what will be my future.
Di Matteo has done a great job with the Blues and I'm not that sure he will leave.
For Chelsea, the (Champions League) final at the Allianz Arena was an extraordinary day. The atmosphere was unforgettable.”
