Former Chelsea striker Gianfranco Zola has warned his former side of failure if they fail to clean up their act and return to winning ways sooner rather than later.
According to Zola the Blues had proved to be extremely fragile in the current season and stood the chance of ending up as a mediocre team if they failed to shape up. He believed the London side were running out of time to improve, speaking after the 3-1
defeat to Napoli.
Chelsea travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955 and Ezquiel
Lavezzi scoring for their side.
The result sees Chelsea with no wins in their last five games and added pressure on Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas. Failure to score in the second leg at Stamford Bridge will see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 facing elimination from the European competition, leaving them to
compete for just the FA Cup.
The Blues were knocked out of the Carling Cup earlier on in the season and they have since then slipped out of the top four in the English Premier League. Chelsea find themselves below league leaders Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
Their chances in the FA Cup look slim, having stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Championship side Birmingham City earlier on. They will wait on the replay to decide if they are to progress to the next round or be doomed to yet another trophy-less season.
The former Chelsea forward was aware of his side’s fragile conditions and urged them to improve so that they could finish the season with silverware.
Zola said while speaking to reporters:
“I think they will have to analyse what is going on and to sort it out quickly.
Especially psychologically, at the moment they are a little too fragile and you cannot afford that, especially at this stage of the season.
You have to know what you're doing and you have to do it 100% convincingly.”
