Gianluca Naso gets rid of
Juan Pablo Brzezicki
in 1st round - Ciudad de Guayaquil CH 2011
Italian Gianluca Naso got rid of unseeded Argentinean Juan Pablo Brzezicki in the first round of the Ciudad de Guayaquil Challenger 2011.
On Monday the 21st of November 2011, at the Guayaquil Tennis Club in Quito, Ecuador the two players duelled against each other on outdoor classic clay courts. After a one hour and forty three minutes the Italian battled
past unseeded Argentinean in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4.
Inaugurating the opening round of the match was Naso and he tactfully battled a few aces to hold his service game. Following at his heal was Brzezicki, who too held his respective serve to place himself on the scoreboard beside
his adversary at 1-1.  Naso then held his serve in the third game and then capitalized on a breakpoint to scoop two successive games to take a mini lead of 3-1 at the end of the fourth game.
In the following four games, the players matched a blow for a blow and eventually Naso clogged the opening set in the ninth game by restricting his opponent to only three games in the entire set!
The second set was commenced by Brzezicki and this time he was fortunate to take a mini lead after he scooped away two successive games by capitalizing on a breakpoint in the second game.  However, Naso was quick to make a return
by breaking back in the third game to reduce the deficit and with a hold of serve in the fourth game; he completely mitigated the deficit by equalizing the score at two games each.
Brzezicki again fell short and double faulted on his serve in the fifth game and it seemed as if he wasn’t really trying. On the contrary, Naso benefitted from the break and then held his serve to further extend his lead to 4-2
at the end of the sixth game.
In the following two games the players held their respective serve but Naso was still in t he lead and was now only a game away from victory at the end of the eighth game. However, he was unable to close the set immediately in
the next game while, Brzezicki had reduced the deficit to 4-5.
In the tenth game Naso smashed a backhand winner down the T, to secure a place in the next round where he will be facing Argentinean Diego Junqueira or Slovakian Pavol Červenák.
