The former Parma goalkeeper refuses to blame the referee for the dropped points, and dismisses favourites tag for the Scudetto
Juventus shot-stopper, Gianluigi Buffon, is content with a point against Siena on Sunday, February 5.
The Turin giants played a goalless draw against Giuseppe Sannino’s men at Juventus Stadium, as they failed to take advantage of the slip of their closest rivals, A.C Milan and Udinese. A win would have put the Old Lady with a three
point advantage over the Rossoneri on top of the league table.
Buffon admitted that his team lost an important opportunity to extend their dominance on top of the table, but he is drawing positives from the result. The legendary goalkeeper insists that despite his team did not win, they remain
in comfortable position.
Juve had a strong case for a penalty turned down by the referee in the second-half, but Buffon is not blaming the referee for his team’s result. The Italian international insists that his team did not play to their usual standards,
so they did not deserve the three points.
While talking to the reporters, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 said,
“It was a really important game, also given the dangers encountered by our direct pursuers in the table. Even though we didn’t win, we still managed to gain a point on Udinese and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567. It’s a small consolation, but still a consolation.
We didn’t draw because of the referee, but it is clear that you sometimes win games where you are not playing at your usual high level thanks to an incident,”
The 34-year-old refused to accept the favourites tag for his team, and insists that there are several matches still left to play. He believes that a one-point lead cannot decide the title at this stage.
“It’s too soon to be calling us favourites. There is just one point separating us and Milan and that is nothing at this stage of the season.” added the former Parma star
After 21 matches played so far, Juventus atop the league standings with 45 points picked up so far. The Old Lady will face Bologna in their next game on Sunday, February 12.
