The Italian international goalkeeper is of the opinion that the Azzurri only play well “when there’s a lot at stake”, after their friendly loss against the USA.
Clint Dempsey’s strike downed Italy 1-0 against USA in an international friendly at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Wednesday, February 29.
After suffering defeats in their last two matches, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 is not worried, and feels that the gap between the two games was too much to make a proper analysis. The matches were played three to four
months apart, with the defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 being with a different set of players and tactics compared to the match against USA.
The Nazionale do not boast the best results of friendlies under Cesare Prandelli, having lost four times under the tactician with all of the defeats coming in the friendly matches. However, Buffon believes
that it is not much to worry about, as friendly matches give an opportunity for the tacticians to tinker with the side, and gives chance to the fringe players.
Buffon feels that Italy did not deserve to lose at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, but he feels that the environment of the match made a big difference to the performance of the Italian players. The Italian national
stated:
“Looking back at the defeats, they were all friendlies and at the end of the day we probably play our best games when there’s a lot at stake. It also helps when we play abroad in a fiery atmosphere, such as in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983. That makes
the tension rise and we are ready. I hope that is the only reason.”
The Italian side played with a make shift strike-force of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Borini-c13163 also getting his debut for the Azzurri. Buffon feels that “the Coach is fortunate enough to choose among a group
of players”, who can add variety to the team and possesses great hunger for success.
