The Juventus shot stopper has spoken of his ambition for the 2012-13 season; and is aiming high on all fronts, stating his intent to do well in the Champions League.
The Bianconeri goalkeeper has been at the helm of the club for a very long time, long enough to have witnessed all the glorious era that the club was a part of.  Currently, Buffon is the most experienced player at the club, both in terms of age and his time
at the club since his move from Parma.
The skipper is keen to replicate their success of past into the present and has set his sights on achieving this by performing well in the Champions League competition. He has gone so far to state that the club will be looking to be victorious in the Champions
League as well.
Juventus have not been part of the Champions League since a long time, and their consistent absence from the tournament means that they will be slightly disadvantaged. Many have stated that the club should be aiming to qualify from the group stages and then
anything on top of that would be a bonus for the club.
However, the club captain has stated his dream of leading the Turin outfit into the finals of the premier European competition; but Buffon reiterated that the players would not be disillusioned by the task and would be planting their feet firmly in the ground
in their quest of finishing on top.
He went on to comment:
“There was a desire to get back into the Champions League. And we earned that right with what we did on the pitch. It’s the right reward for a side who last season achieved something great.”
When quizzed about the difference between this year and the atmosphere of the previous year, Buffon conceded that a lot had changed, and that the squad had more energy surrounding them, and remarked:
“It’s a different environment with respect to last year. There’s more positivity and belief around the place now.”
Juve are in the lower seeded teams of the Champions League and there is a chance they might be pipped against two European heavyweights in the group stages.
