The goalkeeper and captain of Juventus has stated that he is calm and not concerned with no extensions of yet the fact that his current contract expires in June 2013.
The former Parma shot stopper has gone on to remark that he has a great rapport with the club and believes there will be no problems when the time comes for extending his contract in the upcoming season. Usually, clubs and players are eager to sign an extension
with the club so that the player does not leave on a Bosman, eventually leaving for free to another club.
This was the rationale behind Arsenal’s insistence on Van Persie to sign an extension to his contract, and rather than watch him leave on a free transfer in the next season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 sold him to Manchester United for a fee of 20 odd million pounds.
However, whereas Van Persie had stated his ambition and desire to leave the club, there has been no such declaration by the veteran stopper. This is a reason why Juventus is not much concerned by the expiry on Buffon’s contract.
Buffon holds no such concerns with Juventus and is positive that there will be no problems with the Bianconeri management when the time comes to sign a contract extension. The veteran Italian shot stopper went on to state that he was in no rush to sign across
the dotted line and remarked that the rapport he has with the club Presidents puts him at ease.
He further went on to state:
“I’m in no hurry and I don’t envisage any problems. I’ve always had an honest and straightforward relationship with the President.”
The 34 year old has been extremely mindful of the situation at the club and understands that the club is going through a phase which has kept them busy. Thereby he has not pushed the club’s executives, and he remarked:
“I’ve told the directors to think about their other priorities for now, then we’ll speak about it and find an agreement when the moment’s right.”
Having spent a majority of his career with the Turin outfit, the relationship between the player and management is extremely strong.
