Giant Ryan makes Bisnath Parboo happy after his penultimate work before the Breeders’ Cup Sprint
In tremendous form, Bisnath Parboo trained Giant Ryan is the Grade Breeders’ Cup Sprint candidate and he continued his preparations for the Breeders’ Cup as he breezed half a mile in 48 3/5 seconds earl morning on 26 October, at Churchill Downs.
The son of Freud, out of Kheyrah by Dayjur, Giant Ryan is riding a six race win streak heading into the Breeders’ Cup Sprint and will be ticked out in the bettors list for the Breeders’ Cup.
Giant Ryan went half a mile, with broken down fractions of 12 seconds, 24 seconds and 36 seconds for the eighths of a mile, and then at the end Giant Ryan galloped out the marked distance for his workout in 1 minute and 2 2/5 seconds.
Trainer Bisnath Parboo said that he got what he wanted out Giant Ryan, in a release he said he wanted Giant Ryan to cover half a mile in 48 seconds, and that is exactly what he did and go out the whole distance in 1 minute and 1 seconds flat but he took a second more than that which is absolutely perfect.
Giant Ryan came out of his work as fresh as a daisy and did not give away any signs of tiring, but he has another work ahead of him before he goes for the Sprint, and that work could probably come next week.
Owned by Shivananda Parbhoo, the 5-year-old Giant Ryan is in the middle of a run of his life time, with six wins on the trot the experienced horse bagged a grade 2 and a grade 1 on the way as well.
With a couple of allowance races, a non graded stakes race and a lone handicap win, Giant Ryan connections decided to enter the experienced horse in the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Handicap.
Giant Ryan responded in style among graded stakes company, and landed the 6 furlong long sprint at Calder race course on 9 July.
He won the Grade 1 Vosburgh next, also at about six furlongs at Belmont Park on 1 October, 2011, where he defeated the likes of Force Freeze and Caixa Eletronica in 1 minute and 9.10 seconds.
