Giants’ Coach Tom Coughlin finally responds to Jets’ Rex Ryan – NFL News
The standoff between the New York Jets and New York Giants took a new turn with Giants Coach Tom Coughlin jumping into the war of words with his latest press conference on Wednesday.
This was the first time Coughlin said something about the much talked of Saturday game. He shrugged aside Jets coach Rex Ryan’s claim of being the better side and termed the talk to be cheap. Were the comments enough to counter
the boasts frequented by Ryan or did Coughlin try coming up with an answer just because he had to.
"I just say, regardless of the talk, it will be decided at one o'clock Saturday afternoon. Regardless of what is said. Talk is cheap, play the game. That is the way I've always believed." Tom Coughlin said.
Coughlin tried sounding realistic laying more stress on the outcome of game than resorting to big claims. There is no doubt when you view the outcomes of the games between the two sides; Giants come up as the winners. With 11 games
having been played between the two sides, the Giants have emerged victorious in seven.
Ryan was quick to respond to Coughlin sounding stubborn as usual.
"I don't care about Tom Coughlin or anybody else. I don't care what's acceptable in everybody's opinion. I really don't care. I'm worried about my opinion and this is how I feel. Quite honestly, I don't care what anybody thinks."
Ryan said.
Ryan with his tall statements will be facing the greater amount of heat this Saturday. A defeat will surely bring in a lot of criticism and agonies for the Jets coach. Whatever Ryan was trying to achieve through his tall claims,
he is likely to take a lot of hits in case Jets lose for the fifth straight time to the Giants. At the time he doesn’t need to prove that the Jets are the better side for ten years as he earlier said but just have to make the ground in just one game that will
decide a lot about the future prospect of the two teams.
Both the sides have much to win or lose from the Saturday’s game. They are faced with a must win scenario in order to keep their chances of playoffs hope alive and come out top in their respective division. So it turns out that
the game is not just about the ego of Ryan but more about who makes it to the playoffs. Maybe this was why Ryan tried putting all he had in the game going way ahead in order to divert attention from their last game’s crushing loss and motivate his players.
