Giants’ Will Beatty to undergo eye surgery on Thursday, says management – NFL News
The New York Giants’ team management has announced that defensive tackle Will Beatty will undergo an eye surgery on Thursday after it was confirmed on Wednesday that the player had detached retina in his right eye.
It is assumed that he received this injury during the defeat against Philadelphia Eagles 17-10 in the week 11 game of the National Football League last Sunday.
Beatty is going to miss the week 12 battle against New Orleans Saints and it is still unclear as to how many more games will he miss. The team management has said that no date regarding his recovering could be given before the
surgery.
Beatty himself has no idea about the exact nature of his injury and said that the doctor will examine him in operating room to get more details. Dr. Donald J. D’Amico is going to perform the surgery.
“The doctor doesn't really know exactly how the surgery is going to go until he gets me in the operating room and actually dilates it and he can truly see what's going on," Beatty said on Wednesday. "I'll know a lot more tomorrow
how serious it is and time off and things like that."
There are speculations that this injury might prove to be season-ending one for Beatty who is praying that the damage remains minimum.
"I'm hoping for the best," he said. "It could be a wide range of being out for a few weeks to being out for the season. I'm going for the lesser. But there's nothing I can really do to rehab or anything so I'm just praying that
when he goes (in) it's not that bad."
Beatty was drafted by New York Giants in the 2009 NFL Draft. This season he has started all the 10 games for Giants, but it cannot be determined that how many more will he start.
Meanwhile, in the absence of Beatty, it is expected that Giants will make do with introducing new players and shuffling the positions of different players that include David Diehl, Kevin Boothe and Stacy Andrews.
Giants are ranked second in the National Football Conference East division with six victories and four defeats.
