Giants’ defensive coordinator Perry Fewell disappointed on defence’s performance – NFL News
No matter how much they try, New York Giants just cannot forget what the National Football Conference South in-charge, New Orleans Saints, did to them last week. In a humiliating 24-49 defeat, Giants’ defensive line failed miserably
and drew heavy criticism from all the corners.
This time, it is Giants’ defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who has expressed his views about the team’s defence. He said on Thursday that the opponents outplayed Giants and played with more effort and energy. He admitted that
his team did not perform well, and was disappointed on how the defence performed.
“It was so disappointing from my perspective as I watched it on Monday and then watched it the next day. It was one of those games that you wanted to bury. The energy level and what we did, it baffled me. It baffled me. You are
supposed to have answers, but sometimes you can’t explain something like that,” Perry said.
Last week’s loss was Giants’ third in a row. They are now going to take on the undefeated Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having a time of his lifetime this season. He has played all the 11 games and completed
260 passes of 362 attempts for 3,475 yards. He also has 33 touchdowns and four interceptions to his credit.
Perry knows that the challenge is tough and his players have to control Rodgers at any cost if they want to win the game.
“That makes it a lot tougher on us because he is very mobile. I can recall, he can move around, he can scramble. We have to be very disciplined in our rush lanes,” Perry said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Giants’ former star Michael Strahan also paid a visit to the team’s camp and did some pep-talk with the players, especially the defensive line.
New York Giants are ranked second in the National Football Conference East division with six victories and five defeats. They are expected to win all their remaining five games of the season if they want to keep alive the competition
for playoffs in their division, which is dominated by Dallas Cowboys with a complete one-game lead over Giants.
