Giants disappointed at loss but focused on the next big game – NFL News
New York Giants’ humiliating defeat at the hands of New Orleans Saints 49-24 in the week 12 match of the National Football League current season on Monday not only stretched their losing streak to three, but also gave Dallas Cowboys
a complete one-game advantage over them in the National Football Conference East division. However, the team is focused on the next big game amid disappointments.
The failures cannot be justified as they are a result of poor performance on the field. Quarterback Eli Manning said after the loss that his team had managed a good start, but regretted that the momentum could not be carried forward.
“We are having a drop, a missed throw – just different things that are costing us points,” Manning said.
Manning wants the players to forget the failure now and focus on the next games. He urged the players not to get frustrated and said that they should find ways to bounce back.
Cowboys have now an evident lead in the NFC East division and carry bright chances of entering the playoffs. They have a relatively easier opportunity to increase the lead over Giants as their next opponent will be Arizona Cardinals,
who do not seem to be a tough challenger and are ranked third in the NFC West division with four wins and seven defeats.
On the other hand, Giants have to face the undoubtedly toughest opponent of the league, Green Bay Packers, who have not lost any game this season. Giants will have to beat Packers if the former wants to keep the playoff hopes alive.
Wide receiver Victor Cruz understands how important it is for players to keep their spirits high and focus on the next game.
“This loss is real tough, but we have to understand there’s a lot of football to be played. We still have a great chance to get ourselves in position for the playoffs. We can’t get too down on ourselves because we have another
tough opponent to play next week,” he said.
Meanwhile, Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin has said that his team was defeated because the defence was unable to contain the opponent’s quarterback.
“They tried. They tried. We didn’t get to the passer (Drew Brees). When we don’t get to the passer, we have trouble,” the coach said.
