Giants’ receivers, Cruz and Nicks, ready to face Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis – NFL News
New York Giants wide receivers, Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, are well-prepared to face New York Jets defence on Saturday and on Wednesday that they are ready to take on the opponent’s cornerback Darrelle Revis.
Revis indeed is a potential threat to the receivers as he is quick and strong and creates all sorts of problems for them on the field. This can be the reason why some quarterbacks prefers not throwing to their receivers who are
covered by Revis.
The cornerback has recorded 49 tackles in all the 14 games he has played this season. However, Victor Cruz thinks that he and his team have handsomely prepared to face counter Revis.
“Yeah, teams aren't really scared any more, he's got to earn his money this year and teams aren't really backing down," Cruz said. "I feel like we are going to do the same thing. We are going to go out until he physically stops
us. We are going to spread the ball around."
Cruz, who has started five games, while playing 14 this season, has 73 receptions for 1,194 yards. When asked about whether he or the other Giants’ receiver, Nicks, will be covered by Revis, he replied by saying that he was not
aware of the Jets’ game-plan.
Nicks, unlike Cruz, has started all the 14 games this season. He has 70 receptions for 1,096 yards to his credit. He, too, seems to have figured out the ways to get past Revis.
“He’s a guy you’re not going to just beat, beat consistently like that,” Nicks said. “But you’ve just got to work your craft. You’ve got to go out there and go hard on each play and you’ve got to make plays on him.”
Meanwhile, Giants’ Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride has also admired Revis’ strength and said that the cornerback along with his partner Antonio Cromartie will pose a big challenge to his team on Saturday. However, he said
that his players are ready to take on both of them.
The Giants are heading for a must-win game against the Jets. They have seven victories and defeats to their credit respectively and are ranked second in the National Football Conference East division where Dallas Cowboys have a
complete one-game lead over them. If the Giants want to reach the postseason, they have to win the game against the Jets and have to overcome the Cowboys in their last game of the regular season.
