Giants’ running back Brandon Jacobs unhappy with fans after loss against Eagles – NFL News
New York Giants’ running back Brandon Jacobs is unhappy with the fans, who booed him continuously during the loss against Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. Giants were playing at their home field at the MetLife Stadium in the week 11 game of the National Football League current season when Eagles overpowered them 17-10.
Following the loss, Jacobs commented that the Giants’ fans are best at booing their players and he’s been witnessing it for seven years. He was of the view that playing at home and getting such a reaction from the fans is utterly discouraging and said that it makes the players feel that they are out on the field alone.
“We go out there and we play hard and we do whatever we got to do. It’s up to them whether or not they want to boo. And that’s what they do, he said in a radio interview on Wednesday.
Jacobs has played eight games this season and has 90 carries for 274 yards with three touchdowns. He clarified that his intentions were not to taunt or to criticise the fans, and urged them to support the team saying that the players need them.
“We do have great fans here. I’ve witnessed that as well throughout my seven years here. But the things that we’re going through this year as far as playing at home, that negativity is hard to bring us up through that. We don’t want to hear things like that when we’re playing at home in games we still got a chance to win. It’s really hard," he said.
Earlier, Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin also vented his frustration out after the loss and said that the performance of the team’s offense during the game was pathetic.
Giants have six victories and four defeats to their credit so far in this season. They were leading the National Football Conference East division before facing Eagles, and the loss has pushed them down to the second place in the division ranking.
Giants hold an average of 364.6 yards (281.4 passing yards and 83.2 rushing yards) per game. This Sunday, they are going to face New Orleans Saints that are leading the NFC South division with seven victories and three defeats.
