Giba will stay off the court for seven weeks – Breaking news
On account of suffering from a recent injury, the top gun of Brazil’s Men’s National Volleyball team Gilberto Amauri de Godoy Filho (Giba) will stay off the court for seven long weeks. Reportedly, he has big problem with his leg and needs to take a break
from the sport for quite a few weeks.
Most recently, Giba served as the captain of Brazil’s national volleyball team at the 2011 FIVB Men’s World Cup in Japan. He worked out wonderful performance and helped the team to get hold of the bronze-ware. This was certainly not the best performance
by the Brazilians this year but still they managed to stay in the top three. One reason for Brazil’s low performance could be Giba’s problem. He has had his leg problem since the World League, where Brazil finished second.
Right after the completion of World League, Giba skipped the South America Championship and meanwhile treated his leg. Soon enough he was back in the team and actively participated in the World Cup campaign. He played all the matches of World Cup and supported
his team in every way. Following the completion of World Cup, the injury spoke up again and forced Giba to go through a series of tests.
The medial reports showed that his left tibia was badly affected and Giba had to take an immediate break from the game. Right now, he is getting treatment from his physician who has prescribed him to pass through 45 days of rehabilitation. After the due
period, he will be examined again and might have to continue the same treatment.
Speaking of the injury, he stated, “I hope it won't be long when I can join my team again and help them in our Superleague.”
Giba was currently playing for local club, the Cimed Sports Club. The president of the club, Renana dal Zotto added, “We will wait for these 45 days and then we will see, how it is gonna be. We want Giba to take as much time as he needs to recover. From
now on we are looking for another good player, to keep going with our balanced squad.”
Nonetheless, they are looking for some good replacement until Giba returns in the team. We wish Giba to get well soon.
