Everton’s midfielder, Darren Gibson has revealed that his repeated failures to end up in the starting eleven for Manchester United, resulted in his move away from Old Trafford.
The 24 year old opted to move to Goodison Park, as he was unable to make an impact at United. He made 60 appearances for the club in total, despite spending over four years with the first team.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 signed him in the January transfer window for an undisclosed fee. He made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa on the 14th of January. His first goal for the club came against Manchester City, fifteen days later in a 1-0 win.
The Irish footballer, who has also scored 10 goals for United, admitted that lack of playing time at Manchester, forced him in making a move to Goodison Park. He insisted that he was not given enough opportunity by Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson to prove himself at the
club.
"As a footballer you want to play and when it came down to it, I wasn't playing as much as I would have liked. That meant I had to move. Some people would say I failed at United and towards the end, I wasn't playing my best. So I've come here to start showing
people how good a player I am.”
Gibson did play a role in United’s 2008/2009 season, in which he represented the Red Devils in all the Carling Cup games.
He also scored goals in the Champion League matches against Bayern Munich and Schalke, in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
However, he remains a regular choice for Moyes in his starting eleven, who views him as an indispensable part of his future plans.
"I am just enjoying it [at Everton] and I'm in a better mood now, I know that," Gibson said. "It is nice to know you're in with a more-than-likely chance of playing every week, rather than not.”
The Irish footballer also mentioned that he has got a lot of respect for his former club, as it was the first that he had ever played for.
Gibson will make a return to Old Trafford in opposite colours on Sunday, as the Toffees take on United in a Premier League match.
