http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darron-Gibson-c10368 has insisted his side cost Manchester United the Premier League title last season, by holding them on to a 4-4 draw at Old Trafford in a crucial fixture.
The Red Devils, who finished runners-up to their local rivals Manchester City, were in a pole position to lift their unprecedented 20th league title, as they were five points clear of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini’s men with just four games to go.
However, their title challenge was hit by a major setback, as the Toffees went on to secure a draw against them at their own back yard. The result allowed the Citizens to narrow the gap at the top to just three points, who beat United in the next game to
go at the summit of the table. City eventually went on to claim the title on a better goal difference.
During the game against the Merseyside outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s unit twice squandered a two-goal advantage.
With both the teams set to commence their 2012/13 league campaign on the 20th of August with a game against each other, the Irish footballer turned on the pre-match heat by claiming that his side cost United the league title last term. He also
believed that the loss was a massive setback for the Red Devils, as they were desperate to get the better of their ‘noisy neighbours’.
He told the reporters in an interview, “They try to win every game but maybe there is a bit of anger there because the game against us lost them the league really, but we will go out and try and get the right result.”
“They would have been wounded to lose the title to anyone but especially losing it to the noisy neighbours as they are known.”
Gibson holds a unique record of never losing out on a Premier League game in which he has started, and will be eager to stretch that feat even further on Monday at Goodison Park.
After having featured in the entire pre-season, the midfielder was confident of making an impression this term, and set his sights on cementing his place in the starting line-up.
“I just want to play as many games as possible, stay fit, score more goals – everything really. I am just looking forward to the first proper season of my career,” he added.
