  1. gibson, fender, gibson, fender, BC Rich!!

  2. They're both good quality, but I prefer Fender as a starter guitar and then as you get more advanced, get a Gibson. Hpoe I helped! :)

  3. I'm not going to bore you with what its made out of and who played on them. There have been plenty of great musicians who have played on each one of them. What really matters is what type of music you want to play. Some groups like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, The Eagles and Eric Clapton all used Fender. Fender definitely has a unique sound to it which is great for classic rockers and newer stuff. Gibson on the other hand is definitely a rock out with your c*ck out guitar. Playing stuff like Guns N Roses, Led Zepplin, AC/DC and others alike. I definitely prefer Gibson but its really up to you. Now... thats not to say you can't play AC/DC with a Fender. Of course you can but the sound won't be the same. Hope this helps. Both are good guitars.

  4. It really depends on your personal preference.  Gibson gets my vote because their guitar bodies are made primarily of mahogany and maple, where Fenders are primarily made of ash.  Gibsons also have a better sound IMHO and you don't have to worry about amplifier buzz with Gibsons like you do Fenders (Fenders mostly have single-coil pickups, Gibsons have dual-coil "humbuckers").  There are lots of guitarists who would disagree with me though -- Eric Clapton has been playing a Fender forever, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn both played Fenders, and country musicians really favor the Fender Telecaster.  BOTTOM LINE:  For rock, blues, or jazz, I would go Gibson.  For country or to get a specific sound you can only get with single-coil pickups, Fender may be a better choice.

  5. its all preference.

over here we actually ask our customers if they are a gibson guy or fender guy. hahaha

just play both to see what is more comfortable.

  6. It depends on for what purpose and style of music.  I'm a Gibson guy, so I of course would say Gibson.  But, you can not get that clean, jangly country sound out a Gibson without some serious effects and tweaking.  Gibson w/humbuckers are the best choice for rock, hard rock, blooze, some jazz, metal.  Fenders are great for some jazz, blues and country.

  7. The answers here are pretty good. Gibson's with humbucker pickups are better for higher gain/distortion music. You know how guitars hum? Well that's what hum buckers are for, they "buck the hum" as in minimize it. They loose some high-end "twang" doing this. ACDC's Angus Young, and Led zeppelin's Page mostly use gibsons.

Fender's with single coils are good too, they have a cleaner, twangier sound. Listen to SRV, Jimi Hendrix, or some country musicians to hear.

The fact is they're both great. I own both and use both depending what mood I'm in.

  8. There are many types of the two as well as many derivatives thereof and so on. Each has different qualities, so it depends. I kind of like that Gibson SG.

  9. gibson

  10. IMHO, that's like asking between Ford and Chevrolet. It's a matter of personal choice, depending on where you are in your training.
