http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Distin-c34430, believes that Darron Gibson’s return to the team will ease their midfield problems.
The Irish International suffered a thigh injury during the opening stages of the season, forcing him out of action for the last couple of months.
With skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes, whose options had gone thin by the omission of the veteran midfielder.
Gibson is expected to feature in the Toffees upcoming game against Norwich City at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The former Manchester United player represented the Toffees in an Under-21 match last Sunday and is reported to have gained full fitness.
Distin was impressed with the performance of the midfielder, pointing out that he looked sharp from the moment the opening whistle blew.
The Frenchman insisted that the Toffees missed his inspirational presence in the centre of the field, but feels that he was making a comeback at a time when his side’s need was the direst.
Everton currently holds fifth position in the league table and are vying for a Champions League slot this season.
“He hasn’t played for a while now, nearly three months, so he did well. His passing seems to be sharp so I think he’s doing good,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“I think we’ve missed him. He’s really important in our squad and we don’t have a big squad, so obviously if we can get a player back that will be beneficial.”
The 25-year old, who arrived at Merseyside in January for an undisclosed transfer fee, played the pivotal role in the Toffees exceptional upsurge in the closing stages of the previous term. He also looked in good form early on in the season, before suffering
an injury during a league fixture against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. Consequently, he played no part in the team’s last eight league matches.
Gibson had not ended up on the losing side in the 28 matches in which he started, before the game against the Baggies.
