Gideon Yu appointed as San Francisco 49ers’ new co-owner and president – NFL News
The chief executive officer (CEO) of San Francisco 49ers, Jed York, has announced that Gideon Yu will now serve as franchise’s new co-owner and president.
In a statement on Friday, February 10, 2012, York congratulated Yu, who was previously serving as 49ers’ chief strategy officer.
Yu, who has worked with the top most revenue generating companies of the world, has played very crucial role in handling business and management related affairs of 49ers.
He was also able to secure an $850 million loan for the construction of a new stadium in Santa Clara.
The CEO hoped that Yu’s association with the franchise will bring prosperity and business expansion.
York said:
"Gideon brings us a truly unique set of experiences and talents, and he will be a guiding force in our drive to continue the winning tradition of this franchise."
He added that:
"He's both a visionary and the 'go-to' guy who can lead us through the enormous opportunities ahead such as, the stadium construction, expansion of our brand and its businesses, and positioning the franchise for the future. We have more to do now than ever before, and Gideon is the right person to get the job done.”
Yu joined the 49ers last year and his promotion within a year says all about his potential and leadership abilities.
A football passionate, Yu is a diehard fan of San Francisco 49ers and is happy to be associated with his favourite football franchise.
Yu was pleased to be promoted to such a prestigious post after being entrusted by the upper management.
He was of the view that being with the 49ers provided him a lot of opportunities for personal growth and a mix of his different passions.
After earning a degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford and completing MBA from Harvard, Yu thinks that San Francisco is the perfect destination for him.
While asserting that he gets to utilise all his skills relating to entrepreneurship, business management and technology, he said that working in such an organization is a dream come true for him.
After getting the promotion, he said:
“We all look forward to winning with class both on and off the football field.”
