My son's leaving his preschool and going to public kindergarten in fall. I want to give a gift to his pre school. Also, any ideas on interesting teacher gifts are deeply appreciated.

  1. I have taught preschool for 19 years - and seriously, the best gift I ever received was a homemade book made by a student and her mother.  The mom asked the child what her favorite thing to do at preschool was, her favorite story I ever read her, things I said, her favorite song we did - I still have it - I absolutely loved it. The child illustrated each picture - it took their time and no money (except paper, I guess) - you don't have to buy anything - a teacher wants to know you like what she has done, and what she has done to help your child.

  2. use the formal way!! give a appreciation card!! if i was the preschool teacher,i will like the gift from my students!!

  3. something that they can eat - he will not remember - they will not remember him and no extra work on your part.

For the teacher - she will remember him forever - a saying or quote that will remind her of your child. for the wall or desk or mantal - and small - (from a private preschool teacher)

  4. What I treasure the most are the notes I have received from parents who let me know that I have made a difference in their child's life.  I work with language impaired children and children with autism and down syndrome.

Edibles, but not really homemade items, are always welcome, and teachers are usually big readers, so a gift certificate to a book store is also appreciated.

Small nick-nack type items, like angels or Christmas ornaments, tend to accumulate over the years, plus after a while, it's hard to remember who gave it & then it has lost its value, so those are probably not the best choice.

  5. I agree with Ann M. Some of my best gifts have been the heart felt notes that a parent has written telling me how much I am appreciated as their child's teacher. Also telling me how I had helped in a certain area for the child or the parent.

If you want to give something special to the classroom or school, books are always appreciated or board games, puzzles, manipulative's etc. Gift cards to a specialty store or coffee shop are always appreciated too. But as a teacher the notes are very important.

  6. A gift card tree..like a money tree but with gift cards.

Get some parents together. Everyone buy a gift card (anywhere). Then one parent go to Home Depot or Lowes, somewhere and but a plant. Big enough to tie the gift cards to the plant or mini tree. You can also put the cards in goody bags then tie them to the tree, this way is a little easier.

    Your teacher will love this.

  7. For the school, a gift certificate to discountschoolsupply.com, the best source of great prices for school supplies. For the teachers, lunch and a personal letter than can post for others to see.

  8. How about ordering lunch in for the staff.  I used to work at a pre-school and a parent did this for us.  It was so appreciated by all of us.  As far as teacher gifts, how about a gift certificate to a nail salon or a beach bag filled with some beach stuff (sun screen, towel, etc.).  Once I got my son's teacher a basket and filled it with stuff for a barbecue:  matching paper plates, napkins, utensils, cups.  I included some gourmet cookies and fizzy drink mixes.  I got most of the stuff at Home Goods and the dollar store.

Hope these ideas are of some help.
