Gift horses to Oklahoma Baptist Childrens Home going to slaughter?

I discovered this news from another member here (Dreamy99) and I am posting it again because I think it is worthy of a lot more attention. Here is a link to the news story which also has a link to a video of the NewsOK.TV report on this:

If you find this news appalling and upsetting you might like to fire off an email to Rod Phillips ([e-mail]), Administrator of the Baptist Children's Home, in Oklahoma City and another to Brent Thackerson ([e-mail]), Administrator of the Boys Ranch Town, in Edmond, Oklahoma and remind these so-called Christians of the Biblical Proverb which proclaims that "a righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel" and that if the result of mercies toward children is cruelty to animals then their mercies are not of the Christian faith.

Mostly because of pure Greed, and turning a blind eye. God loves his Horses. There are scriptures even proving this!

And I only Pray they read this!

Job 39:19 Hast thou given the horse [his] might? Hast thou clothed his neck with the quivering mane?



Job 39:20 Hast thou made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is terrible.



Job 39:21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: He goeth out to meet the armed men.



Job 39:22 He mocketh at fear, and is not dismayed; Neither turneth he back from the sword.



Job 39:23 The quiver rattleth against him, The flashing spear and the javelin.



Job 39:24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage; Neither believeth he that it is the voice of the trumpet.

Da 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Shame on that Ranch! And I have already wrote them. If they could only see how these Loyal Horses, Our Pets! Are tortured, instead of turning a blind eye!

Obviously, these people should not be accepting these gift horses if they do not intend to use them.

On the other hand, what was this woman THINKING!!?  Donate 3 year old thoroughbreds straight off the track to a children's home??  She must bear part of the responsibility here.  You find the horse a good home, which means an APPROPRIATE home that can handle the horse.

These organizations are in the blessed business of caring for children, not of rehoming problem horsesl.

I think it's a perfect example of what some of us say about rehoming a horse.  

If this woman had the "out of sight, out of mind" hope for the best and hope I don't hear differently attitude that many people have, the horse would have ended up at a Mexican slaughterhouse.

That is absolutely appalling and horrifying.  As a Christian, I am keenly aware of my responsibility to look after God's gifts of animals to us, and to treat every one I handle as if he or she is a precious gift.  The Bible is clear about God's concern for his animals, as it says that "not even a single sparrow falls from a tree, that God is not aware of".   People who mistreat animals will have a very rude awakening one day. . . . .

I'm send off emails to the two men whose  addresses you provided, and forwarding an email with the link to all of the animal people in my address book.

Added:  I just sent off an email to Mr. Phillips (ironic, the name Philip in Greek translates "Lover of horses. . . .) and I cc'd Mr. Thackerson.  I also bcc'd the letter with the link, to several of my friends who are horsepeople and animal lovers.   If you want, I'll send you a copy of the email if I can figure out how to.

ok everything that was coming out of the place's mouth lie after lie and what brookins said about it being expensive to care and feed them and knows alot of horses that are bought at auctions end up in slaughter if you know that it is epxensive business then why do you still have that organization that proves that you are unable to preform a task of caring for them then just find something else to do but i dont want to be near her when lighting strikes her down for lying i dont care you can find other places for those horses that are giving to you. BUT telling them what she told the other owners that and then saying that you reliquished your rights of the horse and we are allowed to do what we want with them that is retarded.no you should be polite to the people who gave their horses to you and you abused the trust they gave you and i think that if they are given to you you cant have complete control over them

and yes i agree with the cruelty to animals that their faith is not christian manner or faith. these people lied and that is strike one maybe even strike three

I saw that on FHoTD as well, it was crazy! I was furious that someone could do that, as well as at a boys camp. What's that teaching the boys there??
