  1. umm i dont know whats a good gift but i reside in Alaska and i hear the cruises are really nice......The weather is rather nice during this time but a nice light jacket would be nice because being out on the water could be windy.......

  2. Digital camera - of an extra chip if they have one.  We went in May and I took over 600 pictures in one week!!  The scenery is amazing.

Binoculars are also good, eagles are every where - and whales!!

You could also offer to pay for one of their shore excursions, if they plan on going on any.  The float plane ride over the glaciers is really amazing.

You can also purchase gift cards from the ship - that they can use for spa treatments.

  3. There are things to do off the boat that coast money so maybe find out what they would like to do and give them the money to do that.

When my daughter got married that is what they wanted, money to do the scuba diving thing and lots more...they were on for two weeks and had a great time.  The first week we were all there...the wedding part. The next week was the honey moon.

So go on line and get a pic of what they want..print it out and put it in a card with the money.

I hear the Alaskan Cruise is a fun one, so make sure they have lots of money to have a good time.

  4. A good lightweight warm waterproof windbreaker and/or pants. The weather can be a little chilly and rainy that time of year.

  5. Cruises in Alaska are for sight seeing.  How about a nice pair of small binoculars.  Small enough to pack easily yet providing a better view of the surrounding landscape and wildlife.

  6. How about a couple of nice books about Alaska?

Frommer's Alaska Cruises & Ports of Call 2007, by Fran Wenograd Golden (Wiley Publishing) $18.99

Alaska's Southeast, Touring the Inside Passage, 10th Edition, by Sarah Eppenbach, Michelle Gurney (Globe Pequot Press) $17.95

  7. this site has good info

  8. I have been to Alaska twice; once in May on a cruise and again in June/July for business. The one thing that they will need is some warm, but not bulky, and comfortable clothing.  I suggest a matching set of warmup suits that they can wear while lounging on ship and/or may even be able to wear off ship on tours.  Then you may add to that some gloves, a pull over cap, and maybe a pair of binoculars.

Or, how about a nice digital camera.  They are relatively inexpensive these days and they will be able to take loads of pictures and then download the pictures to their PC and/or a web site and order prints of the best ones.
