  1. As a relative or a nanny to six different three-year-olds, I exhort you: NO MORE PLASTIC JUNK!  More than likely they already have it or it will get lost in the mountain of junk.  Wasteofmoney, thank you.

Good ideas: Games like high-ho cherry-o and CandyLand become playable around age three, as do card games like Go Fish (which come in all different designs and characters at Target).

A gift certificate to go shopping with you at a bookstore, or to get a hot chocolate with you somewhere "grown-up" like Starbucks, or a round of mini-golf or bumper bowling with you.  You can draw or find a card that illustrates the activity and talk to her mom about when you can go before you give the gift, so that you can give her the card and say, "On Tuesday I'm taking you . . .!"  This is also great because it beats the after-birthday letdown.

Craft kits are a good idea as well, something simple that says three-and-up.  Or go to the craft store and buy fabric markers/fabric crayons/squeeze fabric paint and a couple of white or light colored t-shirts (perhaps even one in her size and one in mommy's or daddy's or a sibling's size) and wrap them up in a shoebox.

Hopefully her party is fun and you figure out something you're happy to give her!

  2. I would suggest an educational toy like a leapfrog or something (on the price I'm not sure tho) maybe try CVS or Staples or something like that for it

  3. maybe a barbie doll or if she liked hannah montana look for hannah montana things.

  4. How about buying a plastic tub with a lid, some kid friendly glue and a large book of coloured paper. cut out some pics from catalogues and magazines, add a few scrap of wool, material, pens/pencils, glitter etc. your neice will love making creative pictures. i used to do this for my kids on rainy days and they absolutely loved it and would spend hours creating different pics. Also its an original idea thats had lots of thought put into it - cheaps as chips too :-))

  5. anything with the Backyardians, kids love the Backyardians! At least my 20 month old does!

  6. cardboard box games, kids love puzzles especially  if these are tricky and involve parents, alphabetic games too would be great for her, i guess she will get toys and dolls from many people. kids also love some small dolls which they can keep in favorite places something that is soft and vibrant, here size does not matter. you can try and combine both types of games i think it will work out cheaper.

Also my daughter had thhis when she was three and loved it!  She pushed it around all the time with her baby in it.

  8. United States Treasury Savings Bonds.

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

  9. dolls dress up stuff, or something look in the toy store
