Gift ideas for a three year old boy?

My best friends little boy is turning three this weekend and we need a gift for his party. I don't know a thing about little boys or about three year olds. Specifics would be great! Thanks in advance.

I know my nephew absolutely loves Doodlebops, Diego (from Dora the Explorer) and Spongebob. Our present to him was a couple of "Spongebob" games - one was Spongebob Bingo (very easy to play - just have to identify numbers with the characters) and the other was a set of Spongebob Dominos (large enough to not swallow and fun to try to match the characters up).

Of course, these are our fun version of learning games (and he's a REAL bright kid - able to do all kinds of counting and matching things up now). Otherwise, I might consider getting him a DVD sing-a-long where he can watch his favorite characters singing his favorite songs (another thing we got him - with the Doodlebops singing "Get on the Bus" and "We're the Doodlebops").

He loved ALL his presents.

Oh! Or get something that will drive his parents INSANE! Like the little kid instruments they can bang on until the parents think they'll die from a headache. We got a real kick out of watching my sister go crazy. A little bit of fun for the baby AND the rest of us at the same time that lasted for months!

In the Discovery Channel section of Toys R Us they have what is called the Big Box of Dinosaurs for $25.  You can look it up online.  There is not a boy alive that doesn't like dinos and it has lasting play until 5-7 years old.  My son has it and LOVES it.

Cars. Little boys LOVE toy cars. Make sure to pick a toy with the right age group listed on the box. Probably a little tike's toy car set would be right up his alley.

So are outdoor tool toys, like a toy lawnmower or wheelbarrow.

i always buy an outfit for the up coming season and a little toy. the parents really appreciate clothes! i would go with 4-5T for winter stuff. hard back books are great too. my son recently received a toothbrush that played music. but you could only hear it while you brushed you teeth. bath toys are fun too. If you still feel like you're lost then you can always call the parent and ask what hes into. Good Luck!

Go to Toys R US and ask the storeclerk whats the most popular toy.

But most 3 yr olds like Spongbob, Diego, Backyardigans, Spiderman. Clothes are fine but a last result they make the parents happy.

When my son turned 3 he was really into dinosaurs, cars, and spiderman.  Books about dinosaurs are pretty cool too.  He is also way into play doh.

Pattern Blocks would be a fun quiet and educational toy for any child around the age of 3.
