Gifted Girl successful in Weatherbys VAT Services Pipalong Stakes – Horseracing News
Gifted Girl made a splendid effort to claim the Weatherbys VAT Services Pipalong Stakes (Listed) at Pontefract in England on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
She was rated as the favourite to succeed and did not disappoint her fans at all, winning the all important competition comfortably. The bookies had priced her 9 to 4 for the event and the punters showed full faith in her abilities,
risking plenty of money in her favour.
Since the overall distance was more than one mile, the start was not much important. Therefore, Gifted Girl was not pressed hard by her jockey in the opening stages of the race. She was held up by some of the slower runners at
that point, but that did not make a difference at the end of the day.
The four-year-old filly started building up momentum with the passage of time and came into a very good position, entering the final furlong. Once she got into the lead, no one was able to catch her and she finished clear of others
by a couple of lengths.
Son of the winning trainer Ollie Cole said after the race, “We've always thought that she (Gifted Girl) was a very good filly. She didn't handle the camber at Epsom and we missed Royal Ascot with her as we thought it was a bit
close to that Epsom race.”
He went onto say, “She didn't have a hard race today and she will definitely come on again for that and the plan is to go for the Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington on August 17.”
This was not the first time, when the talented filly made her team proud. She has been delivering some fantastic results over the past many months and her performances this season have been better than last year.
After making her debut in 2011, Gifted Girl was unable to deliver solid results with consistency, which was a clear concern for her team. However, she managed to improve with the passage of time and has become a force to reckon
with this year. She has appeared in a few important races until now and has done a fabulous job in them. Her camp will be expecting similar results from her in the coming days.
