Gifting something I got as a prize?

I recently won a MP3 player as a prize from somewhere. I like it but it doesn't mean too much to me. But...a friend who loves music and hasn't got one yet would like it (well, I'm pretty sure she would). It is her birthday really soon and was wondering if it is okay to give it to her. Is there some kind of unwritten rule about this?

I've already got something else that I got for her but I'm iffy about giving her it since I'm not sure if she'd like it. I think she would like this more. I got it about an hour ago and it's unopened.

Opinions? Thoughts? Advice please?

Give her whatever you bought for her birthday and the MP3 player on the side. That way you telling her that you know she likes it. Her birthday you are not dodging a gift and plus you are being honest. She cant hate you for that

that is a tough question.  i don't know your friend so i can't know the right answer.  there is no unwritten rule that i know of but there might be...

why dont you giv her both the present you got and the ipod.. tell her whats goin on though cuz you dont want her finding out through somone else and have her thinking it was a big deal/secret which it isnt really.. id be cool if my friend was like 'i got you this present but then i won this and thought of you.' i hope this helps and hope she has a good bday!!
