Gifts to take from the US to Syria?

My husband is returning to his home country of Syria for the first time in 14 years, and would like to bring some gifts back to his family. He's having trouble coming up with ideas, though. Can anyone help me think of specific ideas? I would love to heard from people who are from the Middle East.

Well if there are kids in his family, candies and any sweet stuff would work, syrian kids love foreign candies:D and maybe if you bring a Play Station would be great too and dont worry about bringing game CDs we have lots of them here.

now for grown ups (women) cloths would be your best choice.. just bring what ever you feel is nice they will love it just because the cloths are for America :D..  if i got a T shirt from US i would brag about it all the time:D.. now for adult guys and girls you could bring.. emm.. a cell phone maybe.. i know that the new i-phone is available in the US market and its not too expensive.. or a laptop if you could, they will love you if you bought them a laptop!! now for the elders you could bring a radio or a catalog of picture of the US..

If you bring anything they would love it,, just knowing that you just thought about them, it will mean so much for them.. that's how we are.. the Syrians:)

When we used to come back for holidays [from Switzerland]we always come back with boxes of chocolate. not only because Switzerland is well- known for that , but also it is easy to carry and really gives a delight to the recievers.

Clothes are also an alternative.
