Coach Pearce opted for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 and experienced statesman Giggs in his line-up, but they were unable to deliver when it mattered most.
The idea of one Great Britain football team represented the home nations hasn’t gone down well with the Federations of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041, and if the players do not buck-up their displays in London, the side maybe shelved once again.
Giggs, though, is relishing his role as captain and claims that he is quite honoured to take part in his first major International tournament.
"Obviously [I'm] very proud. It was a good game to be involved in, obviously against Brazil. It's always special when you play against Brazil. But to captain and be involved was great. It was great preparation for us. We've only been together nearly two
weeks. We're definitely getting better and we'll improve as the tournament goes on so it was a good benchmark for us today."
"We've learned that we've got a lot of talent in the dressing room. Everyone is comfortable on the ball and we will get better. I've seen that in training, I've seen the quality in training and we've seen in parts tonight.”
Great Britain have one of the most talented squads in the competition and them gunning for gold seems like pretty realistic target. However having been placed in the same group as their opponents from last night, they will have to be at their very best if
they are to qualify from the group stages.
