The Bianconeri goalkeeper maintains that he will not consider retirement while he continues playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926; insists he was right to stay with the club through Serie B.
Gigi Buffon has sidelined all notions of retirement, stating that he will not consider the option to part with professional football, until his services are needed for the Azzurri.
The Old Lady goalkeeper insisted that although he is aged 34, the years are not too much for his role with the gloves. The veteran keeper insisted that he is in a healthy physical condition, and will not consider the retirement
option until he is dropped from the Italian national squad.
While talking to the press, the 34-year-old said:
“I’m 34 and that’s a lot for a footballer, but for my characteristics and my role, that’s not too many. I’ll only think about retirement when I’m no longer called up to the national side.”
Buffon has 113 International caps to his name, and remains Italy’s most reliable man in front of the goal. The keeper is also set to extend his contract with Juventus, although his current deal expires in 2013.
The Bianconeri glovesman stated that he has spent a big chunk of his playing years with the Turin giants, and insisted that he owes both his game and his name to the Old Lady.
The Fidanzata d’Italia goalkeeper stated that he has waited six years to get hold of the Scudetto while wearing the Bianconeri shirt, and insisted that the trophy is the fruit of the compelling path he chose for himself.
The Old Lady custodian insisted that it was a tough decision to go into the Serie B with the relegated club, but stated that the choice has finally paid dividends in the form of the Scudetto.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment for the last six years,” he added. “This Scudetto is payback for the decisions which I made in the past. It was hard to go and play in Serie B [after Calciopoli demotion], but at the end of the
day it has proved to be the right decision.”
Juventus was forcefully relegated to Serie B and were stripped off two league titles, because of their alleged involvement in Calciopoli scandal.
