The Italy goalkeeper has written a poem to motivate the Azzurri to revert their attention from all the issues surrounding them, and focus them back on the decisive victory over Trapattoni’s men.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 has warned his team to stop thinking like losers, and has stressed that instead of worrying about the Spain-Croatia game Italy must concentrate on beating Ireland in their final group match.
The Azzurri will have to beat the Boys in Green in order to have any hope of qualifying for quarter-finals stage of Euro 2012. However, a 2-2 draw in the other Group C game between the Roja and the Blazers could see them relegated
despite the win.
In an attempt to put an end to the controversies surrounding the Nazionale ahead of the crucial game, the keeper decided to write a poem to motivate his team-mates.
Biscotto is a term used to define a stitch-up in Italian language, and literally means a biscuit.
Buffon outlined the attitude of press to blow the stitching-up matter out of proportion, and stressed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 have not yet won the match against the Irish for the biscotto to have any effect at all.
The Juventus-man stressed that the Spanish and the Croatians have the right to feel offended, and also sidelined any notions that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-c14985 Trapattoni could favour the Azzurri because of his Italian nationality.
The veteran keeper slammed the media for portraying Italy as the suspicious people, and highlighted that there is a great difference between drawing a game, and having it end with a 2-2 score line.
The 34-year-old wrote on his facebook page:
“For two days people have exclusively been talking about a biscotto... it’s as if we’d already beaten Ireland,
As if others didn’t have the sacrosanct right to feel offended by such insinuations,
As if the others didn’t have the privilege to think Giovanni Trapattoni could consider doing us a favour,
As if we owned the culture of suspicion and were the only ones who could use it,
As if drawing a match is the same as getting a 2-2 result”
Buffon went on to stress that instead of looking for alibis to explain their dismal performances, Italy must look to be proactive in their drive for the European crown.
The Azzurri goalkeeper concluded by stating that in place of looking for a scapegoat, the Italians must look to win their match against the Irish, and be the architects of their own fate.
