Does anyone know of something to take for sea sickness other than Dramamine? Last time I took Dramamine and ended up falling asleep on the boat. I am only going on a cruise to know-where otherwise known as a gambling cruise and will only be out at sea for a few hours. I am not a drinker so drinking alcohol is not a solution. I am open to herbal or holistic suggestions...

  1. You could ask your doctor for a prescription for a Scopalomine patch. It's a dime-sized patch you can put on you (often behind your ear) that can be used for motion sickness. The patch lasts for 3 days - which is longer than the couple of hours you need it. This means you should probably put it on the night before so it can get into your system. I don't believe it causes drowsiness at all.

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. I used ginger and it seems to have worked.  I used it because:

    1)  It is not a drug

    2)  It is the only thing that worked on Mythbusters

You can buy ginger at drug stores like Walgreens.  I think a bottle of 100 tablets good for two years cost $6.00.  I took one tablet before breakfast and one tablet before dinner.  Make sure to take one tablet prior to getting on the ship and make sure to drink some water when you take the tablet.

  3. The best advice I have ever been given on a cruise that worked is drinking lemon water.
