World number 92 Gilles Muller of Luxemburg survived a third set scare to overcome former world number 2 Tommy Haas of Germany in four sets 7-6(5), 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-3 in the first round of Wimbledon Championships at the All England
Club in London on Monday. It took Muller two hours and 42 minutes to undo his opponent in a tough encounter.
The Luxembourger and German failed to break each other in the first set, equalising the score at 6-6 and forcing a tie-break. Muller grabbed a late mini-break in the tie-break to seal it 7-5.
In the second set, Muller and Haas exchanged a single break of serve, taking it to a tie-break. The Luxembourger claimed three mini-breaks in the tie-break and captured it 7-3.
After getting two sets to love down, Haas came roaring in the third set as he broke Muller in the second game and held his serve in the next game, blazing forward to a 3-0 lead. The German went on to win the set 6-3.
Muller came back in form in the fourth set and needed a single break of serve to clinch it 6-3. The 28-year-old capitalised on the only break point opportunity he created in the fourth set.
The Luxembourger is drawn to face world number 25 Milos Raonic of Canada in the second round.
Alex Bogomolov Jr. beats Donald Young 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1
World number 72 Alex Bogomolov Jr. of USA ousted compatriot Donald Young, ranked 111th
  in the world, in four sets 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to move to the round of 64. The match lasted for two hour and 50 minutes.
Bogomolov Jr. broke his opponent in the twelfth game of the opening set, bagging the set 7-5. The American fired three aces and fourteen winners in the first set.
In the second set, Young came back and broke Bogomolov Jr. in the seventh game to grab it 6-4. The American kept his first serve percentage at 67 percent in the second set, sealing 57 percent of the first service points.
Bogomolov Jr. took an early lead in the third set, breaking Young in the second game and holding his serve in the next game to go ahead 3-0. The 28-year-old captured 80 percent of the net approach points in the third set.
The American crushed Young in the fourth set, allowing the left-handed to win only a single game and breaking him three times to seal the set 6-1. The five feet and ten inches tall won three of the four break points he received
on Young’s serve in the fourth set.
Bogomolov Jr. will play either 25th seed Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina or unseeded Marinko Matosevic of Austria in the second round.
