Gilroy High boys volleyball team sweeps Christopher High in a Tri-County Athletic League match
The Gilroy High boys volleyball team had a match recently with their counter parts from Christopher High.
The competition was part of the Tri-County Athletic League that is currently taking place. It did not take too long for the match to come to its close as the home team made a clean sweep over their opponents.
The guests were able to put up a good fight only in the opening set of the game whereas in the second set the home team smothered their opponents quite comfortably. The third set saw a bit of a spark from the guests but it soon died down as the home side
won the match at the following final set scores: 25-21, 25-8 and 25-20.
The head coach of the GHS squad, Craig Martin, shared his views on the subject in the following manner at the press conference that was conducted after the match had reached its close, “What we always talk about is riding that wave. A team coming into a
place where they want to win, there is going to be a ton of adrenaline on their side. We had some errors in the first and third games. We put it together in the second game.”
The first set of the match saw both the teams put on a good show but as the game progressed, the home team took the lead and kept their opponents trailing behind. It did not take long after that point for the home team to secure a win. The second set came
easily towards the home team and the guests put in a half hearted effort in the third set that gave the math away to the home players.
The overall season record of the Mustangs show a total of six wins which have been accomplished at the cost of incurring an equal number of losses. On the other hand, the TCAL Valley Division record of the Mustangs show a total of five wins with an impressive
statistic of no loss so far. On the contrary, the TCAL Valley Division record of the Cougars show three wins in all which have been incurred after suffering two losses.
