I am attempting to make a signature using matt dallas, but i can't use the fuzzy select too correctly to cut him out. Does anyone know how I should use it, or another tool that would work?

  1. When using fuzzy select, especially dealing with portrait, it is nevertheless a easy tool to select the relevant parts from the rest of the pics in 1 click, however, it is very difficult to skip some unwanted parts while some parts wanted might not selected as expected.

To get around, while in fuzzy select, there is 4 red mode buttons on the tool option window right under GIMP main, by default it is the 1st mode, try to use the other 3 as well, add, subtract and intersect, at the same time lower the threshold and increase the view magnification then you can add or take off unwanted bit and piece instead of selection by 1 click replace by another(by default)

To make the selection more versatile, try to use free select tool(with the 4 red mode buttons) together with fuzzy tool, with a little practice, the result is very rewarding.

    Hope this helps.
