Gimp install

I've just installed Gimp on my Windows Vista Home Premium computer. And it just dose'nt funger. Every time I try to open it I get the message "Gimp 2.6exe has stoped to funger" or I don't know what it's called in english. But then it tells me that windows has shut down the program and is searching for soultions. But it can't find any and I don't know what to do? PLEASE HELP ME I NEED GIMP!!
