Question:

Gina Carrano 4.5 over weight, MAJOR advantage???

This fact was glossed over during the broadcast and in the papers afterward, but it is a shame that her opponent was pressured into taking the fight instead of forcing the forefeit. Gina should be ashamed of herself for not making weight. What do the Coutures think of her now? Still the golden goose or just a straight up slacker???

  1. LOL!!! Awsome answer Garry H...... but she did lose money for coming in overweight which like was mentioned previously so her carrdio would have suffered. She still wiped that girls but 5 pounds or not!!

  2. They sure did gloss over it.  I didn't even catch that.  I still think Gina clearly outclassed her.

  3. Just because a fighter doesnt make weight you dont call of the fight.

you give them a penalty and you let them fight. a few pounds doesnt make a diff.

Plus it must be hard for her remember shes an american gladiator. SO she does not just train to fight she actually has another job

  4. her opponent got a hefty bonus for taking the bout against an overweight fighter...and 4.5 pounds is not a huge huge advantage.  I think it hurt Carano more...she was somewhat out of shape from a cardio standpoint

I believe Kimbo was outweighed by about 15 pounds (no im not hopping on the Kimbo bandwagon, just stating a fact)

  5. She should be punished for coming in over weight.  I say punishment should consist of 2 1/2 hours of nude jumping jacks broadcast on CBS to replace the time I lost during the Bimbo Slice Excrete XC event I watched Saturday.  And no comentary from Frank Shamrock!

  6. Carano lost 12.5% of her paycheck for the fight to Young because she came in over-weight.

It if was a disadvantage for anyone, it was Carano...mentally it messed you up A LOT to not make weight.  I'm sure that she felt horrible NOT making weight, and it was something that she was probably constantly thinking about.

Also...did you even WATCH the fight???  Young did a good job holding her own...I don't see how the few extra pounds negatively affected her.

  7. I don't know, both fighters have to cut significant weight, and from what i understand can be pretty demanding on the body.  Another 5 pounds is 5 pounds less of h**l the carrano had to go through.

  8. The fact that she was 5 pounds overweight wouldn't be a huge advantage.  And I am sure Young got a bonus for taking the fight, and Gina was docked pay.  Gina won fair and square, unless of course you think the extra weight was in her fists.
