Is Gingerale really just like sprite/7-up with a splash of coke?? I work in a resturant and a customer asked for gingerale and my boss put sprite in a cup with a splash of coke and told me to take it to him. He said thats all gingerale is sprite/7-up with a splash of coke. Is it true?

  1. No, your boss is incorrect. Many unscrupulous bars, however, will use the trick your boss used because they don't want to pay extra money to carry/serve ginger ale because it's not ordered frequently enough (in their esteem) to warrant the outlay. Most of these places are betting that the average customer won't notice.

7-up w/ a splash of coke doesn't even taste like ginger ale; IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE. The reason your boss makes the mix is so it will LOOK like ginger ale; that's it.

The sad thing, though, is that people like your boss are usually not going to get caught because, honestly, most people WON'T notice; they'll just trust the bar/restaurant.

You'd be surprised at the stuff people don't usually notice. I worked at a bar years ago where there was usually only one bartender 4 nights out of the week, and two on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Well, the bartender I worked with during the weekends set up his speed rack (a tray under the bar that has your most frequently-used well liquors: vodka, gin, white rum, triple sec, tequila, bourbon) in a different order than I did. The reason for having a speed rack is so you can make most drinks super-fast because you've got the liquors right in front of you and you've memorized what order they're in; you don't have to look for the bottle, you just grab and pour.

Anyway, so this bartender and I set up our speed rack in a different order, which became a problem when we'd work together and we had to share the same speed rack. Both of us would re-arrange the rack the way we wanted to and forget to tell the other person we did it, LOL. So for a while, we'd accidentally send out screwdrivers made with tequila instead of vodka, margaritas made with gin instead of tequila, and so on. Crazy thing is that nobody ever noticed; we never got a single drink sent back.

  2. No.

Gingerale has ginger in it. It does not have lemon and lime in it nor does it have cola. It does not have caffeine in it either.

Cheap retailers will do this trick when they are too chinsy to purchase gingeral for their customers. Yes it looks like gingeral and is the closest you can come to taste if you don't have it. But then I have heard they do the same thing if they don't have root beer either.

As long as someone is not sensitive to caffeine then your work place will not have any problems either by someone getting this lame replacement.

  3. no .... gingerale actually has some GINGER in it:)  (duh)......That's why doctors recommend gingerale when you're nauseous

  4. Gingerale has Ginger in it.

Sprite with a Splash of coke give the Look of Gingerale.

    NOT THE TASTE.

  5. Ginger ale is definitely not 7-Up/Sprite with a splash of Coke. Otherwise, why would the ginger ale business be still existent? Ginger ale is way different: it has a different history, different ingredients, different levels of sugar.

  6. not... sprite with coke in it is nothing at ALL like ginger ale... thats retarded.

  7. hahaha give your boss a fish stick and tell him its salmon...see what he says. lol i've never tried sprite w/ a splash of coke ..maybe it tastes like ginerale but..its deffinately not the same thing.  and yeah..GINGERale has ginger in it..thats why it is supposed to help with stomach problems.

  8. Don't tell him a customer wants chicken livers. No tellin' wha...
