season.
Tottenham were considered as title contenders at the start of the season and that estimation held true for the North London club till late January when they were level on points with Manchester United in the title race. However
things went downhill from there as they finally finished fourth in the league table.
Under normal circumstances, a fourth place finish would’ve earned Tottenham a place in the qualification stages of the UEFA Champions League but with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 winning their UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich, Tottenham’s
spot was given to them as defending champions. Harry Redknapp had to face the axe as a result. Andre Villas Boas has since then replaced Redknapp and is aiming to achieve what Redknapp could not for Spurs.
Ginola said, "Redknapp leaving was a surprise, but it's a choice of club. But this year they could not make the Champions League because of Chelsea's victory. Tottenham has always pursued supremacy in north London, but for the
last two-to-three years, there has been a levelling of values. There is no longer a 'Big Four'."
Ginola was a part of Tottenham’s fantastic side in 1997 and he is still regarded as perhaps the best winger ever to play for the North London club due to his direct approach to the game. Tottenham have under achieved in the past
but with Redknapp at the helm, they were progressing albeit slowly.
Now responsibility of taking the club forward in the right direction falls on Villas Boas’ shoulders who has thus far focused on improving the Tottenham squad in the current transfer window before the new Premier League season
kicks in next month and the summer transfer window closes at the end of August.
