Giorgio as a baby boy's name?

what do you think of Giorgio as a boy's name (for my baby due soon)? how easy it is to spell in your opinion, any bad/good connotations associated with the name, etc. what would be the nickname that you would first think when you hear Giorgio (Gio? don't like it much).

our other option is Peter George, but my husband is not too crazy about it (and everybody seems to hate those names or the combination). and I am not consider Giovanni, Gianfranco, or other similar names, for those who like those and want to suggest them. :-) just Giorgio...

thanks.

Georgia.

  1. Giorgio is a cute name for a baby boy! However, I think it may be too close to your own name (and mine!), Georgia. The name sounds like it would be from an Italian decent. I like Gio better, but "George" came to mind as a nickname.

Peter George is bleh. I've never been a big fan of the name Pete, Petey, or Peter. As a person above mentioned, it sounds like an old mans name in the form of Peter. Giorgio > Peter, hands down if those are the only too names you're considering.

  2. I like it! Yeah, I guess you'd have to call him Gio for short. But, you can always call him by his middle name!

I have to agree with your husband about Peter George though. It's really bland. It sounds like an old man's name.
