The former striker of Parma has gone on to state that victory by either side would not be the deciding factor of who goes on to win the Scudetto by the season’s end.
The diminutive striker was talking to the press ahead of their match in the Serie A on Saturday; the match on the eighth day of the Italian Championship has garnered much media attention towards it. The major reason behind the hype has been the fact that the match is being by the table toppers of the Serie A, and a win for either side would give them a three point lead against the other.
There have been many players and coaches who have pinpointed the importance of the League match, and the repercussions it would have in the title race. However, Giovinco has stated that he continues to get baffled by the suggestions that a solitary win would alter the course of the Serie A; but he also remarked that defeat in the match at the Juventus Stadium is definitely not an option for them.
Furthermore, he made it clear that the mentality at Juventus was not short term, but long term; and in it they focussed on working hard and keeping at it. He was quoted to have said:
“I don’t know how a Napoli win could affect the Scudetto race, because I have not even taken that option into consideration. Our victory wouldn’t change anything either, as we would continue with the same approach. That’s the way we work here, we keep our heads down and focused on the next target.”

He remarked that accumulating 19 points from a possible 21 points was no small feat, especially in a league where scoring goals is not that easy. He remarked:
“Napoli are a strong side and there has to be a reason they are level on points with us. We respect them, but have no fear.”
Napoli have won six of their seven matches in the 2012-13 season.
