  1. You've done well to choose Girasols Garden. Its a very decent property.

Most of the Menorcan accomodation is ok, but I sold this one to a few families in the past when I was a travel agent and there were no problems at all.

It's a well planned, low-rise complex around a large pool in extensive grounds- plenty of room for the kids to run around n quite safely. Most have pool and garden views. - Take care of non-swimmers in the main pool- it is very deep!

Quite a few (maybe all actually I can't quite remember for sure) apartments are privately owned and they have varying facilities and extra luxuries you just don't get in other places. I booked a 2 x bedroomed apt last July for one family and they had a dishwasher and a washer/dryer in their apartment as well as a fridge freezer. You might or might not get these kinds of facilties but if you're lucky enough to get one of the private ones, they are usually air conditioned too which is a welcome bonus in summer.

The beach at Son Bou is superb but one little word of warning- further along (I believe to the far right, there is an area which is popular with nudists. If this offends, then just don't venture too far up the beach <vbg>

Theres not a lot in the way of entertainment as far as I remember at those apts but there is a complex nearby (might be The Club San Jaime) and there is entertainment there that you are welcome to go to. Theres also waterslides etc there which are a hit with families.

The town is a good 10 minute walk, but it's flat there and no problem if you've got a buggy or pram with you. There are plenty bars and restaurants to choose from in the resort but most of the food is English. Theres a good deal  at Frans restaurant  their 'Menu of the Day' - 12 euros for a 3 course meal including a drink or bottle of wine if 2 people order. Highly recommend the shoulder of lamb, delicious! Staff in all restaurants are very friendly and great with the children. The cafe right at the top on the corner (can't remember it's name) was the best value for a light meal - the kebabs and salad were lovely.

Copacabana's bar seems to have the best night-time entertainment - all tribute acts which varied from plain awful (Abba tribute) to quite good (a Brummy Elvis). All sports events were televised - try Josephs bar if you want English beer and company!

I would reccomend hiring a car, not that it's isolated, it's just that Menorca is such a beautiful island it would be shame not to explore.

To summarise then, if you go expecting a basic clean apartment for a quiet relaxing base then you'll not be dissapointed. Luxurious it is not, but it's perfectly fine for a family holiday in the sun.

I hope you have a lovely time! All the very best of luck.
