  1. youre acting here as if you dont really want to become a vegan for any real ethical or logical reason. it is up to you what you choose to eat. Its not that youre told to or told to not eat fish, eggs, etc. its that you choose not to eat it.

if you find it ok to eat fish then by all means eat it, but if you really understand why people become vegans and vegetarians and have a reason to become one, then you will most likely choose not to eat it.

remember, its not if you can eat fish or not, its whether you want to eat fish or not.

good sandwich fillers: peanut butter, soy bacon, lots of vegetables, soy "meats", etc. i enjoy just a variety of vegetables

protein: nuts, beans, vegan/vegetarian "meats", etc.

  2. you get your protein from pulses and beans ....i would consider going veggie then vegan its a very restrictive diet but very good for you

  3. what are your reasons for wanting to become vegan?

seeing as you don't mind eating egg or fish why do you want to be a vegan?

it is your choice to eat fish, but if you do you won't be a vegan...

  4. Yes, it is your choice whether to eat fish or not.  However, if you do choose to eat fish, you are not a vegetarian and not a vegan.  It is a common misconception that vegetarians eat fish (I have no idea why), but this absolutely isn't true.  Vegetarians don't eat any animal flesh, which includes fish.  Veganism is a stricter form of vegetarianism.  Vegans do not eat anything that is animal-derived, which includes meat, eggs, dairy, gelatin, honey and so on.  For many vegans, it goes beyond diet and is a lifestyle choice, which includes not using animal products such as leather, beeswax, silk and wool.

t sounds like you really need to investigate and research veganism more before you make this change.  Why do you want to do it?  Unless you're dedicated to it and sure of your reasons, it will be hard to stick with it.  That, and you need to make sure you are working with your parents to plan nutritionally balanced meals, especially with your age being what it is.  This is absolutely vital.  I'd recommend seeing a nutritionist to help you and your parents plan your diet.

There are plenty of protein sources for vegans.  The truth is that the Standard American Diet contains far more protein than a person actually needs.  Vegan protein sources include legumes like lentils and beans, nuts (in moderation), tofu, soy milk, seitan, tempeh and "faux meats" (also in moderation).  Whole grain breads and sprouted grain breads have a good amount of protein.

For sandwiches, I'd recommend whole grain or sprouted grain bread rather than white bread, which has very little nutritive value.  Whole wheat pita pockets and flatbread are also great.  I often will eat a peanut butter sandwich-- organic, natural peanut butter on Ezekiel (sprouted grain) bread.  Another one I like is a wheat pita spread with hummus and stuffed with sprouted legumes, bean sprouts, spinach and any other veggies I feel like throwing in there.

  5. Vegans eat pulses and vegetables, but NO fish or dairy products.

Vegetarians can eat pulses, vegetables AND dairy products.  At NO time are they allowed fish.

  6. Vegan's don't eat meat or any dairy products. If you've never been Vegan you should start out with being Vegetarian at first so you get use to it...than when you've been it for a while you can go Vegan. I've been Vegetarian for about 5 years now and planning to go Vegan soon.

    good luck.

  7. Like other's have said vegans don't eat any animal product including fish. If you want to eat fish, it's up to your but don't call yourself a vegetarian or vegan.

    Vegan -

    Peanutbutter and Jelly

    Humas (chickpea spread)

    sliced tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc.

    Veggie burger

    Veggie hot dog

    Veggie chick patty

    Fried tofu

If your going to eat eggs and dairy - all of the above +

    Fried egg

    Egg salad

    Cheese

  8. a vegan does not eat fish, or any animal product! a pescatarian eats fish, but no other meat. they do eat eggs and dairy. this is probably what you need to do. vegans get protien from soy, beans, and nuts.

  9. girl 13 needs to do a lot of reading before she can be a vegan. It seems she has no idea what a vegan is and I am curious as to why she would want to be one without knowing what that something is..

if I understand YA guidelines correctly, girl 13 needs to get her parent's permission to post too..

  10. Your Mom is wrong.  Vegetarians and vegans do not eat animals at all.  Vegans do not  eat anything that comes from animal like eggs, milk, cheese, honey, butter etc.   You need to learn to read labels to see what's in what you buy.

Protein is everywhere.  Google vegan protein.  Do your research and understand nutrition before going blindly into any change of diet.

There are toms of recipes online for easy vegan lunch ideas.

  11. Vegetarians and vegans don't eat any animal flesh, and fish are animals. You would NOT be vegetarian or vegan if you decided to eat fish. The right name for someone who eats no meat except for fish is "pescetarian".

There are plenty of vegan sources of protein, including almonds, black beans, cashews, chickpeas, fake meats, kidney beans, lentils, peanut butter, pinto beans, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, and tofu.

    Sandwiches:

    -Peanut butter and jelly

    -Avocado, lettuce, and tomato

    -Hummus and tomato

-Tofurkey Deli Slices (veggie meat) and Vegenaise (vegan mayo)

    -Soy cheese

  12. You get your protein from nuts and beans, sandwich fillers could be peanut butter or jam.

    but it's a very limited diet I don't think it's a sensible idea for a 13 year old...

Apparently this isn't your question but vegans can't eat fish! Vegans don't eat any animal products, fish IS an animal. Even most vegetarians don't eat fish, but some do so if you want to eat fish go vegetarian.

  13. Sandwich fillers

    ------

Peanut butter and Jam or banana

Hummus and grilled veggies or grated carrot

    avocado and pinenuts

    avocado and salsa

    smoked tofu and chilli jam

tofu or quorn in a hoisin or tikka masala sauce in a wrap or sandwich

    grated beetroot and vegan mayo

    vegan cream cheese and jam

falafal and vegan yogurt and mint

marmite and vegan cream cheese or margarine

just plain old avocado or hummus, or both =)

    Or peanut butter

    or any vegan cheese

    or vegetables

Be imaginative. Think dinner time. What's in that stir fry? shredded carrots, sweetcorn, sliced bell pepper, cashews, tofu maybe? beansprouts? stir fry them in your regular vegan sauce and slam 'em in some bread.

    Sweet combos are endless to.

I like melted brown sugar and mashed bananas

or raspberry jam, strawberries sliced and vegan cheese

if really indulgent, melted vegan chocolate and banana/raspberry.
