  1. It depends on how often she has her period.

Because if she has it every few months or so, than there might just be 2 weeks of blood saved up on her uterus, but if she has it every month than I don't know. Maybe her uterus's collects more blood than most people?

  2. It's probably an early symptom of menopause.  Stress will only aggravate menopause symptoms.  There are over the counter supplements that are supposed to help (my mom swore by them) or she can try birth contorl or hormone replacement therapy for some relief.

It's probably not serious, but she should see a gynocologist who specalizes in menopause just to be sure.

  3. Ignore the guy's answer about 2-weeks stored blood. That's dumb! You can't have two weeks of blood "stored" in you. The real problem may be something else. You didn't mention your mom's age. My friend's mother had the same problem but couple of months after that she stopped having period altogether (she was 48 at that time). So it maybe that your mom is getting to where her ovaries are getting weak and to the point where will stop having menstruation all together.

If she's not over 40, then this could be a serious problem. I suggest you and your mom go to a Gynecologist ASAP! If you went to a regular doctor, they may not have adequate information to tell you the right answer that's why you need to make an appointment with a gyno. Most "full time" gyno's require a recommendation from doctor. What that means is that you need to go see a regular doctor at clinic and tell him/her that you think that your mom's condition should be checked out by a Gyno
