Girls, are you really close to your dads?

It drives me crazy when dads are too scared to even hug their children for fear of being called a paedophile! This happened to my friend's dad when he dropped us off at the cinema and hugged his daughter goodbye. Some idiot shouted "Eww, you dirty old man!" at him. He ignored them, but I was in shock that someone would actually have the balls to shout something like that.

I regularly hug my dad and kiss him on the cheek goodnight. If someone ever said that was incestuous I would tell them to f**k off and get a life.  

Why is it acceptable for mothers to be affectionate to children but not fathers?!

Personally, I am not extremely close with my father...of course I love him and he has supported me through a lot.  As a family we have been through very rough times and such, but I feel as though I am closer with my mom.  I don't go shopping with my dad, we don't have conversations about my personal life like guys and such, but we do go hiking and do outdoor activites.  I help him do yard work and I'll help him cook dinner...I guess those are our bonding activities...but as I said I feel as though I am closer with my mother...I tell her everything

but I wonder what you must be doing that makes people believe that you are being incestuous...are people saying this to your father as well?  we need more info...but as long as everything physical is strictly hugging and a kiss on the cheek, then i dont see how your relationship with him is incestuous

He doesn't call me or try to show me that he loves me, so why bother.

I'm not close to my dad, but I have plenty of friends who are. I certainly would never call or think of having a close parent-child relationship  incestuous. That's completely ridiculous!

I cannot begin to describe the love I have for my father. I had a very special bond with my father ever since a baby, I bonded more with my father than my mother. I've been on Answers more these last few days because I fell off my horse and have cracked 2 ribs, and still, after all this time (I left home with I was 17 almost 18 now almost 23) it's my father who I wanted. Although, Chris is the love of my life, I'll never love another man the way I love my father. It's not incestuous just to be close to your father. It's a natural bond a child has with his/her parents. Look don't feel bad, I've even taken my dad on nights out before, people assume he's my boyfriend! My dad is very sporty so he does look young for his age. I get comments all the time regarding it, people always assumed I would grow up to marry a Doctor because my father is one. Just ignore ignorant people. I've never cared what people think. It does mildly irritate my boyfriend, he kinda feels left out sometimes that me and my father have such a close relationship...I try to tone it down as much as possible. I talk on the phone to my dad for hours at a time, almost daily. Trust me, i'm a lot worse than you! I'm obsessed! People who are critising you are generally people who don't have a close bond with their father or parents. It's perhaps one of those things one must experience before they can indeed realise how close a father/daughter's bond can be.

Totally agree with rat dog, we have entered a 'paedophile frenzy' soceity where men are afraid to show affection to even their own children for fear of being branded a pervert. I'm all over my dad, I hug and kiss him all the time.I still  sit on his lap!

I wish i had a dad to be close to. I had an abusive father who then abandoned me when i was only 4. Ive never seen him since (and i really think its for the best, because i dont think I could have taken anymore of his physical and verbal abuse anymore:(

I see my friends who have really good relationships with their dad, and you can really see the love between them, I think that it's really really GREAT, and thats how it should be, and I always wished that i had a dad who loved me, who i can give hugs to,and rely on, but thats something i will never be able to excperience.

my dad and i are really close but hes always been really protectie of me and barely even hugs me because he's so afriad he might hurt or brake me which makes me angry but we argue, have those moments where we watch old cartoons and laugh our asses off and fish but other then that i'm really not like normal girls.....maybe you just love him more because you went through something? as long as your not all touchy feely i believe that you guys are fine. :) good lucky deary

I'm not really close to my dad and we have loadsa fights but whenever i want something he always gets me it, yeah you could say i was spoilt but i dont cause a scene or drama when i dont get my way and im not a brat either - if i dont get it, i just accept it although i rarely ever do.

Im very close to my dad, but just not in a physical way...maybe thats because he moved out when i was 7 and so didnt really get to see him much and build that sort of affectionate physical relationship. Though if i ever needed a hug, he would give me one im sure : )
